about

As a life-long lover of music, I've long felt sure that I need the tunes, grooves, beats, lyrics, and energy that music gives me. On reflection, it occurred to me that music also needs us musicians.

Without adherents to the fantastic tradition of music, the tradition would not be moved forward. It takes each of our contributions -- no matter how small -- to grow the body of work. It takes each of our voices raised in our way.

I'm very grateful for music and overjoyed that I can add my own tiny contribution to the tradition.

lyrics

G C
I struggle believe we’ve come this far
G D
Together my friends
G C
I’m in love with this road we’re on
G D
Together my friends
C Cm
And who’s to say what this road will
G D
Bring from here on in

Am C
It’s been a mighty fine ride
G D

Am C
It’s been a mighty fine ride
G D
So far So far
C Cm
we’ve come in our joyous pursuit
G D
That’s what we do
C Bm Am
contribute to
D
The great tradition

G C G C
Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh

Oh monday nights, here on haight street
With you my friends
We’ll write our parts we’ll play our songs
Together my friends
And who can say, what we’ll get up to
From here on in

D C
And so what if it’s just a minor contribution
G Em
So what if sometimes you’re playing to an empty room
D C
If sometimes quiet months slide by without production
G Em F
you fill up with venomous self recrimination
C G
Just pick up and play
F C G (repeat)
Pick up your instruments, raise your voices and play
Make a happy sound and you’ll feel okay

Bm C G D
Oh you know that you you need the music
C
But t he music needs you
Bm Am
To contribute
D
The great tradition
